Updates from Parking and Transportation

Free and No ID: City of Fairfax CUE Bus

A reminder that the City of Fairfax CUE bus is free for all Mason students, faculty, and staff.  Because CUE is operating fare-free until at least June 2025, you no longer need to show your Mason ID.  CUE departs from Rappahannock River Lane and all of its routes stop at Vienna Metro.

Did you know you can track CUE buses on the RideSystems app?  Just select the menu button, choose “Change transit agency” from the menu, and select CUE Bus – City of Fairfax.  You can also track CUE on the TransLoc app.

For information on CUE schedules, CUE’s Zero-Fare Pilot, and CUE’s bus tracking, please visit http://www.cuebus.org.

New Mason Shuttles Stops

New stops have been added to both the Gunston Mason and the Fairfax/Mason Square (Arlington) routes.

  • Gunston Mason – two stops have been added on Fair Lakes Parkway
  • Fairfax/Mason Square (Arlington) – a stop has been added at Fairfax Circle

For details, please visit Shuttle Announcements at https://transportation.gmu.edu/news/shuttle/.  Questions?  Reach out to Parking and Transportation at 3-2828 or via email at shuttle@gmu.edu.

Reminder: Vanpool Formation – Loudoun County to Fairfax Campus

Are you a full-time faculty/staff member who lives in Loudoun County and works on the Fairfax Campus?  Would you like to have your commute costs reimbursed up to $280/month, tax-free, not have to do all the driving, park free at Mason, and reduce carbon emissions?  If so, consider vanpooling.  Parking and Transportation has developed a short vanpool match survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LoudounVanpool

More detailed information about vanpooling at Mason is available at https://transportation.gmu.edu/transportation-services/#CarpoolVanpool.  If you have any questions about vanpooling – whether you live in Loudoun County or not – please reach out to us at transpo@gmu.edu

Commuter Choice Reminder

If you’re a full-time faculty or staff member, you have access to the Commuter Choice program which covers qualified transportation expenses (not parking) up to the IRS limit of $280/month based upon your actual commuting costs.  For details, please visit https://transportation.gmu.edu/transportation-services/#CommuterChoice.  The deadline to receive August funds is Thursday, July 7.  If you have any questions, please contact Parking and Transportation at 3-2828 or via email at transpo@gmu.edu.

Faculty/Staff Bike Commuter Choice

Do you live within a few miles of campus and think biking to work could be good for your well-being?  All faculty and staff (non-student) are eligible to participate in the Bike Commuter Choice Program.  The program has four tiers of support.  The more you ride, the greater the financial incentive.  The introductory tier is just 5 rides per quarter. For details, please visit http://bike.gmu.edu and select the Faculty/Staff Bike Commuter Choice Program.

Need help finding a comfortable route to campus?  Visit our biking resource page at https://transportation.gmu.edu/transportation-services/bicycle-programs/#BikingResources
