Compensatory Leave Reminder

Have you earned compensatory leave? Make sure you are aware of the compensatory leave limits and expirations. Compensatory leave is earned by classified staff on an hour-for-hour basis when an employee works:

  • On a holiday
  • When the university is officially partially or fully closed
  • On a scheduled day off

Limits and Expiration:

  • Employees are limited to 96 hours of accrued compensatory leave
  • Per State Policy 3.10, accrued compensatory leave expires one year from the pay period in which the hours are accrued, regardless of the 96-hour limit
  • Compensatory leave may not be used once hours expire or lapse and cannot be paid out upon an employee’s change of status

Child Development Center’s Professional Development Day

Register to be a part of the Mason Child Development Center’s (CDC) Professional Development Day! This year’s theme is “Well-Being in the Early Childhood Setting.”

This Professional Development Day provides opportunities for educators to learn more about the best practices and developments in early childhood education. Through engaging with prominent speakers and information-packed workshops, attendees will develop valuable skills, build key networks, and enhance their practice as well as fulfill their required training hours.

This year’s Professional Development Day is on March 23, 2019, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Johnson Center.

2019 Health and Fitness Expo

Health and Fitness ExpoAttend the 23rd annual Health and Fitness Expo on Thursday, March 28, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The expo will be held on the Fairfax Campus in the Johnson Center, Dewberry Hall.

The Health and Fitness Expo is an annual event attended by more than 1,000 participants, featuring interactive health education activities, participatory demonstrations, and fitness instruction and challenges.

This event is free, open to the public, and promotes health, wellness, fitness, and disease prevention—while introducing faculty, staff, students, and affiliates to resources in the community that can help them lead healthier lives.

Spotlight on Support: Eldercare

Life/Work Connections provides support to faculty and staff for a variety of life planning issues. One of the ways this team supports faculty and staff is through eldercare support resources. Life/Work Connections helps faculty and staff integrate the responsibilities of their work and personal lives with the caregiving of elder family members.

Available services include:

  • Private consultation to identify and understand specific eldercare needs
  • Resource and referral information to support a broad range of caregiving needs

Electronic Flexible Work Form

Telework WeekNew year, new Flexible Work Agreement! Your Flexible Work Agreement is now online and combines all flexible work options together. Using Dynamic Forms, employees complete this new form online and have it automatically sent to supervisors and department heads for signatures.

If you have an existing and unexpired paper flexible work/telework agreement, there is no need to resubmit! When your existing agreement needs to be renewed, please use the online form.
