Spring Into Town Hall, Sponsored by the Staff Senate: March 8

town hallJoin the Staff Senate for its inaugural Spring Into Town Hall on Tuesday, March 8, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Town Hall will take place in Research Hall, Room 163 on the Fairfax Campus and will be video-conferenced to Arlington (Founders Hall, Room 322) and SciTech (Bull Run Hall, Room 258).

Nicole Roth, Staff Senate Chair, will update constituents on the Senate’s current initiatives. The following presenters will provide updates and answer questions from constituents:

  • Linda Harber, Human Resources/Payroll
  • Josh Cantor, Parking and Transportation
  • Marc Fournier, Mason Dining
  • J.J. Davis, University Leadership

The Staff Senate’s Fairfax Staff Appreciation Event will take place immediately following the town hall. The Staff Appreciation Events at other campuses will be held as follows:

SciTech: Thursday, March 10, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Bull Run Hall, Atrium
Arlington: Tuesday, March 15, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Founders Hall, Room 125

George Mason Toastmasters Club Open House

The George Mason University Toastmasters Club was officially chartered by Toastmasters International on June 1, 2008. Currently, about 25 faculty and staff members meet for an hour once each week to learn and practice communication and leadership skills. Toastmasters is for everyone. Whether your public speaking skills are at the beginner’s stage or you consider yourself a seasoned professional, you can gain experience as a member. Join us Wednesday, February 17, at 12 p.m. in The Hub, Rooms 1 and 2 for an open house, and experience a Toastmaster meeting in action. Visit our website for more information: toastmasters.gmu.edu.

Fall 2016 UNIV 100 Faculty Interest Meetings

The Center for Academic Advising, Retention, and Transitions (CAART) is currently accepting applications for Fall 2016 UNIV 100s Faculty. If interested in applying for a UNIV 100 position, you can find information at the following website: transitions.gmu.edu/university-100/faculty-apply

CAART will host three Faculty Information Sessions to learn more about UNIV 100 courses and the faculty position. Feel free to drop by, no preregistration required:

Registration for Spring Break Camps Now Open for the Mason Community

The Potomac Arts Academy and Human Resources and Payroll have teamed up to offer a pilot program of three exciting and interactive camp opportunities for Mason families during spring break. University Life Student Success Symposium

Join the 2016 University Life Student Success Symposium: Achieving Our Goals Together on Monday, January 11, 2016. The symposium will provide participants with shared learning, innovative practices and methods, increased awareness of national trends and research, and meaningful dialogue in identifying existing issues and considering future practice. The University Life Student Success Symposium is designed to explore ways in which we, as faculty and staff, can best support and serve our students.
