Traffic Advisory: Temporary Closure of Campus Drive for Fairfax Water Project

Photo by Creative Services/George Mason University

Campus Drive is temporarily closed to all vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic between West Campus Way and Global Lane. This is to allow Fairfax Water to construct a new water main. We anticipate this closure will last until mid-January. Updates will be provided as they become available.

The university will temporarily open Campus Drive for winter graduation and other major campus events. West Campus shuttles will continue to operate, but only Mason Shuttle buses will be able to pass through the gate to University Drive.

The Field House shuttle stop temporarily moves to the front of the Field House, and pedestrian access to the Field House will remain open from Patriot Circle along Campus Drive.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility as Fairfax Water completes its project, which will continue on Braddock Road upon completion of work along Campus Drive. For more information, go to fcwa.org/engineering/braddock_main_july_2017.htm.

While the road is closed, the West Campus parking lot and Rapidan River Road will be open and accessible from the Braddock Road entrance to Campus Drive. Access to the PV parking lot will be from Mason Pond Drive to Global Lane.
