Message from the Chair

To me, February always seems to be the longest month of the year. But at Mason, I find that February is one of the best months to discover a new class or training opportunity! Human Resources and Payroll continually offers professional development training classes, Spring into Well-Being is right around the corner, and this may be the perfect time for you to add some additional training to bring back to your unit.

Don’t forget Homecoming is just days away. Check out one of the many spirit events, including the Mason Homecoming Basketball games. Cheer on our Patriots both on and off the court this year. The list of events can be found at homecoming.gmu.edu. Go Patriots!

Website Changes

There are a few changes to the HR & Payroll website. We have refreshed the homepage and added direct access to our retirement resources (look for the gold button). In response to valuable feedback from faculty, we have also created a retirement landing page (hr.gmu.edu/benefits/retire), which is tailored to faculty and staff’s career cycle at Mason. Whether you have just started, are in the midst of your career, closer to retirement, or are retired, you can find information tailored to your needs. We would love to hear your feedback on the resources provided and how they are organized.  Email us at worklife@gmu.edu.

As the spring semester begins, Mason students, faculty, and staff are reminded that traffic on and around the Fairfax Campus greatly increases, especially during the first few weeks of the semester. The information in the newsletter linked below serves as a campus parking and transportation guide to help minimize potential parking and traffic delays.  A valid parking permit is required to park outside of visitor areas.

During the first few weeks of the semester, we suggest allowing an extra 30-45 minutes to arrive on campus. Read the newsletter for more information.
For questions contact Parking Services at 703-993-2710.
