Summer 2021: Parking Permits on Sale and Mason Shuttles Summer Schedules Available
Summer parking passes went on sale on Monday, May 10. Online sales only. Please visit the Parking and Transportation website for details. Reach out to parking@gmu.edu with any questions.
Mason Shuttles summer service begins on Monday, May 17. Service will continue to be Monday-Friday only. We will be running a limited Fairfax/SciTech route (one bus) and the On-Demand shuttle (two buses). Schedules can be found on the Parking and Transportation website. Please reach out to shuttle@gmu.edu if you have any questions. Please note: The spring 2021 schedules are in effect through Friday, May 14. No weekend service. There is no shuttle service on Monday, May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.
Motor Pool Fuel Cards, Required Training, and Reminders
Fuel cards are available for motor pool rentals to have fuel charges charged back to the university. Drop by the Transportation Office located in Lot C to check out a fuel card before your rental pick-up date. Entering Fuel Agreements or allowing Enterprise to refuel after returning vehicles empty is not permitted.
Drivers for Enterprise vehicles through motor pool must complete a University Driver Safety Awareness Training and a refresher training every two years through the Office of Risk Management to be eligible to drive.
To be eligible to drive a maxi van, you must be at least 20 years of age and pass the “Van Driver Familiarization Class.” Outside of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Enterprise’s age requirement to drive a 12-to 15-passenger van is 25.

It’s Bike Your Way May: Spring Cycling Opportunities
- National Bike Challenge Underway. May is National Bike Month! Help grow Mason’s biking culture. Parking and Transportation invites you to join the National Bike Challenge. Registration is free and you can sign up as an individual.
- Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 21. Celebrate the Washington region’s 20th anniversary of Bike to Work Day. Start your day off cycling. Pit stops all over the VA, DC, MD area. COVID policy in effect including staggered hours. Register here.

Bike Commuter Choice: New Introductory Tier
Do you live within a few miles of campus and think biking to work could be good for your well-being? All faculty and staff are eligible to participate in the Bike Commuter Choice Program. The program now has four tiers of support. The more you ride, the greater the financial incentive. The new introductory tier is just 5 rides per quarter.
