If you are looking to have your voice heard, now is the time. Over the next two months, we have several opportunities for staff to make their thoughts known to Staff Senate, the President’s Office, and our state representation.

At the Staff Senate meeting on Wednesday, October 7, we’ll host Mark Smith and Sabena Moretz, representing the Office of State Government Relations. They will discuss the work of their office and the main issues they advocate for in Richmond. While I know we have recently received the increase in our salaries, this office continually advocates for the needs, including increased compensation packages, of Mason staff. Mark and Sabena are ready to hear your thoughts and take them to Richmond.

On Wednesday, October 14, President Cabrera will host a State of the University Town Hall. This meeting, exclusively for staff, will help the Consultation Committee (on which I sit for the Presidential Evaluation process) understand the state of the university from your perspective. You will have an opportunity to engage with President Cabrera and make your thoughts known. I will be available to hear your comments as well. Specifically, I would like to hear how you think the President is doing in relation to University values and goals during his leadership.

If you are unable to make it to these opportunities, please feel free to reach out to me, or any of your Staff Senators. They will get your thoughts to me so I may go forward and contribute your views to the Consultation Committee. I urge you to take this moment as your own, and let your feelings be heard.
