Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Day of Service

Please join us on Saturday, January 20, 2018 as we honor Dr. King’s legacy by participating in Mason’s MLK Day of Service at Women Giving Back (WGB) in Sterling, Virginia. Included in this project will be the unique opportunity to meet some of the clients WGB serves, as the store will open from 9 to 10am. Other aspects of the project include, sorting and hanging clothing, cleaning up the store and warehouse, restocking, and other duties as assigned.

OTHER DETAILS: The bus will leave Fairfax at 8am sharp and return to campus by 11:30am. This opportunity is open to all Mason students, faculty, and staff, and limited to the first 45 volunteers who sign up. There are a few spots left!

Mason Lobbies – 2018

Join Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 as we travel to Richmond to advocate on behalf of George Mason University and Higher Education. Food and transportation is provided for participants!

Mason Lobbies is an annual event where we, as Mason students and alumni, take part in advocating for higher education and George Mason University’s student priorities at the state level. A bus caravan will head down to Richmond (departing from the Fairfax campus) for the “Mason Lobbies Day.”  Student and alumni participants will have the opportunity to personally meet State Representatives and Delegates and talk about their Mason experience.

Print Hub-New Location

Effective January 12, the Print Hub relocated from the Johnson Center to the lower level of The Hub, adjacent to Mail Services.

The new space will allow Canon to centralize and expand services.

Look for announcements about open houses in January.

New Flex Holiday Hours

Senior leadership is providing 16 hours of flex holiday leave for benefited faculty and staff in 2018. With supervisor approval, benefited faculty and staff can use these flex holiday hours anytime during the calendar year 2018.

Part-time faculty and staff will be given leave proportionately. All January new hires will receive the flex holiday hours.

When you use the flex holiday hours, enter the number of hours used on your timesheet under “Special Flex Holiday.”

Be sure to use these hours! They expire at the end of the 2018 calendar year and are not eligible for payout.

A WebEx Meeting Center 101 training will be offered to all Mason faculty and staff on Friday, January 26th at 1:00 p.m. EST.

A WebEx account is not required for participation. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in using WebEx in the future or for current users who want to get the most out of the tool.
